I waited to start until patch 1.6 was released before I started my Ferrari career mode. I race with no assists and AI Level at 100 (Legend)
I find this the AI level of 100 perfect for qualifying as it lets me fight for pole like you should be able to in a Ferrari but come race day, AI level of 100 isn't competitive enough. My season after 3 races...
Australia: Qualified 3rd behind Vettel and Bottas with Hamilton behind in 4th. My lap time was 4 tenths off pole and I was happy with that since I felt like I could improve on both my laps. Race day... My pace was far superior to the AI's. I coming out of the first corner in 3rd, I had the pace to match the AI straight away and then towards the end of the stints, they were too slow and managed to overtake them both to win the race by around 12 seconds
China: Went into my final qualifying lap in 3rd place, nailed the lap and qualified on pole by 3 tenths. Happy with that since it felt like my lap was perfect. Race day... Got away better than all drivers behind and lead from lights to flag. At one point I was 13 seconds clear of the field and Vettel managed to get the gap down to 7 seconds in the last 8 or so laps
Bahrain: Qualified 2nd behind Hamilton by less than a tenth. Felt like my lap was really good and kinda pleased to see that I wasn't on pole by a country mile. Race day... Hamilton made a rubbish start and I took the lead from the first corner until the flag. At one point had a lead of 9 seconds. Hamilton reduced the gap to around 5 with around 7 laps to go.
I really don't want this to keep happening. I'm really enjoying the battles for pole with the AI but their race pace is rubbish. I use the default setup so that I am equal to the AI, never use rich engine mode in the race and never divebomb the AI if I am behind them. I try and make the moves as realistic as possible. Turning the AI difficulty up will make qualifying hard as hell to get near to pole but might be closer in the race. I really do want the pace to be close in both qualifying and the race though. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm not sure if you can change the AI difficulty for qualifying and then change it again for the race
