...I have an equal amount of frustration.
- The constant wet weather in career/championship season is NOT FUN and does NOT make the game feel more realistic Codies. Driving in the rain feels like a chore. Rainy periods and safety car periods often ruin the competition because the AI has absolutely no ability to adapt and change strategy; they will be doing pit stops for new soft tyres and pit in for inters/wets/whatever 2 laps later.
- Whoever had the idea to implement technical issues that slow AI drivers down, well let me ask you something, why should the AI get technical issues when the player never does? How is that at all realistic?
- The AI is USELESS at overtaking in the wet; yes I know that all F1 irl is catch-up and easy DRS overtakes, but still you could program the AI to venture off the racing line a bit in the corners.
- Just get rid of the likes of Ferrari and Williams using soft tyres in Q2 and dropping out. Completely ruins the races if you are hoping for some competition with these teams.
- Career mode is catered towards new players. Just keep racing and eventually you will win the world championship, 100% guaranteed because even if you are doing averagely you can make your car into the best on the grid if you do enough boring chores in practice sessions. The upgrade system is one more thing that ruins the realism of career mode. There is absolutely no sense of achievement for, let's say, finishing 6th in the championship in a Toro Rosso because you know that all career is is a drawn-out tunnel towards becoming champion. I don't think rookies enter F1 with the expectation of winning the championship within x amount of years. blah blah blah
Anyway I have gone on too much about negative things but my problem is is that every single Codemasters F1 game has stupid annoying things such as these that ruin what, from time to time, is a very fun and immersive game. 50% distance races with no wet weather and no AI getting stuck behind each other are very fun as standalone races, but career mode is beginning to feel like, as I said, a drawn-out tunnel to the inevitable conclusion of becoming champion, and I just don't feel like carrying on. The only F1 game that I have played properly apart from your games is F1 2006, which did career mode PERFECTLY, so please take a leaf out of their book!
thanks for reading if you didn't fall asleep yet
