Let's talk about FOM.

I am tired of F1 games being restricted by FOM. It's frustrating to know that a company such as Codemasters who have lots of experience with games such as DiRT are blocked by a higher entity when designing a game.

For example, the car damage. F1 2016 as well as all the other Codemasters F1 titles have had extremely mediocre damage models. Endplates, front wings and tires. That's it. I appreciate that sponsors from the cars don't want their logos to be hidden, but let me ask a question- Who actually sees a brand in a video game and thinks to themselves, "Ooh I really should go check that out!" No-one.

The second point that annoys me is the alcohol branding being prohibited. I don't get this at all, seeing as in FIFA there is alcohol advertising everywhere on teams shirts, on display boards etc. So what's different for F1? The Williams looks so simple without the Martini branding and signature red stripe, making the game feel that bit less real. Another few examples are McLaren with Chandon and Force India with Smirnoff.

Thirdly, FOM are the reason our career modes are still at a basic level with the exception of R&D. We cannot have sponsors on our helmets, driver transfers, reserve drivers and a whole lot more because of these guys. What kind of person looks at a game and says "Right, let's see. Ooh let's take this away from consumers, and this, and that, and all that cool exciting stuff over there."

In conclusion, the possibility of this changing anything is near impossible but I'm sure there's a way around Codemasters or some other entity being able to meet FOM half way and give both sides what they want, as surely this would make the games of the future a whole lot better and a lot better commercially.
