I'm fairly new to F1 2016 (played the 2011 edition a lot). Having progressed some into a career game and having played a few single player races, I keep seeing the same destructive behaviour from the AI: It rams me or locks my wheels even if I'm on the racing line.
As far as I can see, the AI drives exactly on the racing line no matter what. So if I'm on the racing line breaking or am having a slower car, it will ram into me. OK, so maybe I'm going a bit slow in some sections (am trying to go manual gear now), but really? How about going around?
And what's really bothering me is the penalties. I easily get a penalty from doing a soft contact or even from being run off the track, but the AIs never do. In some cases I've been crashed out of the race and they get....nothing? In all of my ~20 races so far, I have only seen 1 penalty for an AI and that was for crossing the pit lane :?
While this is somewhat realistic because the marshals always seem to penalise the newest racers and closing their eyes to vile behaviour of the veterans (Raikonnen, anyone?), it still bothers me a lot.
Now for the question: Why is this happening? And what can be done? EXCEPT getting out of the way or drive fast enough not be hit....you know it's not always an option...
