I thought I'd make a thread specifically for people to post on this problem. I know I've posted in a few threads before on this, and a few people are probably getting a bit sick of me
but I believe if enough of us having this issue make our voices heard, then hopefully Codemasters will change their minds and give us our own difficulty level in the same way they created Master difficulty. I'm tired of being ignored on the subject and told to either practice or deliberately slow myself down, and told that they have no plans to help us out because they "can't keep making new difficulties". It didn't take them long to make Master and look at how they've made the game playable for those who needed it.
Let's start off with this. Qualifying Pace programmes are either unrealistic or impossible thanks to this gap. For example, at Melbourne on Hard difficulty, I was expected to set a laptime in the 1:34 range to qualify 17th. I tried my hardest and set a laptime of 1:33.4 and was estimated to qualify 7th - in a Manor. This is deeply unrealistic, obviously, so I switched the difficulty up to Expert. The primary target laptime for 17th had now plummeted to 1:30-1:31 - an unbridgeable gap of 3-4 seconds!
The same occurs with the Tyre Wear test - on Hard, I'm up to 2 seconds under the expected laptimes getting purples in every race, which just feels wrong - there's no challenge or variety. On Expert, I'm struggling so hard and I don't get anywhere near the time, plus I've worn the tyres to shreds from the effort.
Then there's qualifying, and on Expert I'm constantly 1 to 1.5 seconds behind my teammate Wehrlein, and at least 1 second off the guy in 21st, when I'm expected to come around 17th.
During races on Hard, I'm able to keep up but then find myself leapfrogging up the field to ridiculously high finishes. Expert, and the cars leave me behind and I never see them again.
There is no middle ground. In fact, I think you could fit 2 difficulties in that gap if the Qualifying Pace laptimes are anything to go by.
If you're having the same problem, please post your thoughts here.
