So some people may know these tips or not, but this is what I find that really helps with the test, I got purple's on my first run in Melbourne testing these 'systems'. And was 2 seconds quicker than my delta on Legend,
1) Rich Mix - You should always use rich mix throughout the seven laps, you should by default have enough fuel to get through the seven laps with Rich mix. The delta is set to a 'standard' lap, meaning you can gain a few tenths using this small but effective tip.
2) Don't push your stick to the Right/Left - You shouldn't put your stick at 90 degrees, this is full lock, which creates more wear on the tyres. Instead you should put it at 45 degrees, so you push up on the stick then turn it to a max 45 degrees.
3) Let the car do the work - when taking a fairly fast corner, before sector 1 at Melbourne, brake then let car 'roll' into the corner, you basically
just let go of the gas like you normally would.
4) Don't hit the kerbs - An easy one you'd think but it isn't in some cases. Hitting kerbs in this year's kerbs affects time and Tyre wear, you'd be amazed how much time you can get from being more cautious into a corner and restricting your self from hitting too much kerb.
5) If you have the time then go for 2 or 3 tyre compounds with the test, you gain more data if you drive like you would in a race, you may not get the resource points but you get more info into how your race could plan out. And lets face it, the race is what counts.
6) A debatable one but upgrading down force can help you ease the car into the corner and chassis weight with the throttle. This would affect later tests but will help you get more points to get more upgrades easily.
7) If you get interrupted by the AI, lose time and become in a bad situation, forget the tyre wear and push for that lap, try and beat the delta You still get points which is better than aborting a lap.
8) If you fail the tyre test and drove how you would in a race, maybe focus on a setup that favours towards less tyre wear, like reducing tyre pressure, it may affect a little bit of performance, but you don't want to get a puncture on the final lap and then get your race ruined do you.
Hopefully you find success with these tips, I'm sorry if they don't help but I know one or two definitely do. Any queries or extra info do tell and I'll add on
