Career mode performance

Hey guys,

On my career mode I´m currently driving for Renault and my Teammate´s Kevin Magnussen. After like 4 races the car performance list on the laptop looked like this:

Mercedes
Ferrari
Red Bull
Toro Rosso
Williams
Renault
McLaren
Haas
Force India
Sauber
Manor

But still my teammate wasn´t fighting for points with Williams and McLaren like I did. Magnussen just formed huge trains at the back of the field and everytime one car overtook him it drove away from Magnussen like it was no big deal. So he still finished in P16. Also Romain Grosjean was still able to finish in the Top6 even when he sat in the 4th slowest car. (Gutierrez finishes somewhere at the back)

So my question is, is the position on which the drivers finish really linked to the car performance? I´ve seen some YouTubers driving for McLaren one chose Button as his Teammate one chose Alonso. And Alonso finishes on much better positions than Button does on the other career mode.

Is somone here who also chose Renault but with Palmer as his Teammate so he could tell me how he´s performing?
